The Goose is an online Journal for the Association for Literature, Environment, and Culture in Canada (ALECC), and is broken down into a number of sections, which we hope will evolve to reflect the contributions and suggestions we receive. If you are interested in contributing to The Goose, please see our Contact Page for further details. The content of The Goose is currently divided as such:
Editor's Notebook: Here we encourage comments and insights from our readership. Send us your thoughts on environmental issues and "hot topics" in the field, your remarks on literature and culture, recaps of conferences you have attended, your letters to the editors, and everything in between.
Reviews and Lists of New/Upcoming Publications: We seek original, unpublished reviews of books, articles, film, and art exhibits relevant to our readership. In addition, if you know of new publications that would be of interest, please submit them to submissions[at]alecc.ca (contact us for style guidelines) and we will include your citations in our next issue.
Edge Effects: Merging Literary and Artistic Boundaries: An exciting section that showcases the intersections of artistic talents and critical contributions of Canadian poets. We strongly encourage you to submit your artwork and your previously unpublished poetry and prose to submissions[at]alecc.ca. Past contributors have been Adam Dickinson, Anne Simpson, Jan Zwicky, a.rawlings, and Nancy Holmes.
Canadian Regional Feature: A cross-country examination of Canada's rich literary, theoretical, environmental network/resources, and artistic offerings. Each issue will feature a different regional profile in an effort to bridge the gap between local and national identities. Each feature begins with a written introduction by an invited writer, followed by a listing of bibliographic and online resources.
The Graduate Network: A survey of Canadian universities and scholars working in the field of environmental criticism. This feature highlights Canadian post-secondary institutions, and potential ecocritical supervisors and research contacts, and graduate students working in Canadian ecocriticism.
Scatterings: This section, as the title implies, features creative diversity: short creative non-/fictional writing, poetry, photo essays, travelogues, and visual arts. Please send submissions to submissions[at]alecc.ca
